AKRON, Ohio – Two weeks after conquering Muirfield and winning his first Open Championship title without a driver, Phil Mickelson is tinkering once again.
Playing his first event since that victory, Mickelson suggested he may have a driver in the bag at Firestone Country Club for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
“I'm debating it right now,” he said after a Tuesday practice round. “I don't know. I think so, though, because there are three or four holes where I want to use it.”
In his last 10 starts at this event, Mickelson has only one top-20 finish – a T-4 back in 2008.
