CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In his last round before being inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame Phil Mickelson didn’t exactly play like a Hall of Famer, but he left Quail Hollow looking forward to next week’s Players Championship and Monday’s ceremony.
Lefty finished with a 1-under 71 for a 6-under total and was tied for 28th when he left the golf course but he had a busy Sunday night planned before heading to north Florida. When asked if he’d completed his acceptance speech for Monday’s induction he smiled widely.
“I have started it. I’ll work on it tonight,” he said.
