MARANA, Ariz. – Phil Mickelson advances to play Rickie Fowler Thursday in an appealing second-round match.
Mickelson showed no signs of fatigue Wednesday routing Brendan Jones 6 and 5. This is Mickelson’s sixth consecutive week of play. He stayed at home playing in the Farmers Insurance Open outside San Diego, commuted from his Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., home daily by jet to AT&T Pebble Beach and the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles.
“Because I stayed at home two of those weeks, it doesn’t feel like it’s been that many [tournaments],” Mickelson said. “I feel like I’m fairly rested.”
