Molder wishes every day were Saturday

Bryce Molder in the Northern Trust Open third round

LOS ANGELES – Bryce Molder would like to roll back the clock Sunday at the Northern Trust Open.

He would like to roll it back a day.

“If I could play every day like it’s Saturday, it would be fantastic,” Molder said after posting a 5-under-par 66 to get himself in the hunt at Riviera.

Molder shot a 66 on Saturday on the way to tying for seventh at the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions. He shot a 68 on Saturday on his way to tying for 13th at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Then again, Molder had a pretty fair Sunday finish at the Frys.com Open last fall. That’s where he won his first PGA Tour title with a final-round 64 getting him into a playoff. Molder defeated Briny Baird with a birdie on the sixth extra hole.

Molder made his hay with his putter Saturday at Riviera. He needed just 24 putts. He closed with eight consecutive one putts. Molder said that helped his confidence playing with Ken Duke alongside long-hitting Dustin Johnson.

“It was like a twosome playing behind a onesome, he was always so far ahead of us,” Molder said.
