Monday morning worries

ATLANTA – Hate to be the voice of negativity, but as a drizzle turned to a near downpour on Sunday (play was officially suspended at 1:10 p.m. ET due to lightning in the area ) at the Tour Championship the nagging thought of a Monday finish looms, and if play carries on an extra day the PGA of America’s Sunday night charter to the Ryder Cup may be impacted.

Asked if the PGA had any contingency plans for such an occurrence, association spokesman Julius Mason speculated that with just two players likely impacted, current leader Jim Furyk and Phil Mickelson who teed off in the fifth-to-last group, the charter would leave as scheduled from Atlanta at 10 p.m. (ET).

If Furyk, or Mickelson, have to return to East Lake Monday morning they would be booked onto a commercial flight.
