DORAL, Fla. – Paul Azinger famously noted before the 2008 Ryder Cup that there were only two things Tour players stressed over – money and majors. “Shag Bag” had an interesting conversation with Paul Casey on Tuesday at Doral, who came up short last year at a major (British Open) and with his own money.
“We play for millions out here but losing $20 is still the toughest thing,” Casey said. “Especially if it’s to (Gary) McCord (who is a member of the same club as Casey in Arizona).”
Considering Casey finished tied for third last year at St. Andrews, we had to ask: Which loss was harder to take?
“I’ll get over the (Open Championship) quicker I’ll tell you that. I lost to McCord in a club championship and he won’t let me forget it,” he smiled.
