Money title, Masters invites up for grabs

RSS

First Tiger Woods injected a new level of life into last week’s Frys.com Open and this week’s McGladrey Classic will enjoy an unexpected boost as players vie for spots on the money list.

Webb Simpson, who trails Luke Donald in PGA Tour earnings by about $69,000, will be at Sea Island (Ga.) Resort trying to lock up the money title, which comes with a five-year Tour exemption. Donald likely won’t play on Tour again this year and Simpson’s manager indicated his man may even add next week’s finale at Disney to his schedule.

Frys.com Open overtime winner Bryce Molder (pictured above) will also play the McGladrey event. His victory pushed him to 45th on the money list, about $467,000 outside the top 30 and an automatic invitation to next year’s Masters and U.S. Open.

Spencer Levin, who tied for seventh last week at CordeValle and is 33rd in earnings, will also be trying to crack the top 30 and earn his first trip down Magnolia Lane.
