LOS ANGELES – Kevin Na’s giving himself a chance to win his first PGA Tour event at the Northern Trust Open.
It’s a special event for Na. He was 11 years old when he first came to Riviera Country Club and watched Corey Pavin win this tournament in 1995. It was the first PGA Tour event he attended. Na grew up in Southern California in Rancho Cucamonga.
“I have a lot of good memories here,” Na said.
Na, 27, arrived at Riviera this week off three missed cuts and fighting some crooked driving, but he’s finding his swing again. Na tied for 10th at last year's Northern Trust Open. He's tied for second three times in his PGA Tour career and shown steady improvement the last two seasons, qualifying for the Tour Championship in 2009 and '10.
'I really want that win,” Na said. “I’ve knocked on the door many times and come up short, but I’m pretty proud of myself in that I’ve become a steady player out here.”
