A year after Kevin Na established an infamous PGA Tour record at the Valero Texas Open, he returned to the scene of the crime to start a shrine.
In the first round last year at TPC San Antonio, Na recorded a 16 on the ninth hole, a record high on Tour for a par 4. On Thursday, Na avoided the same fate.
His tee shot missed the fairway, albeit by just a few yards. As he was walking to his ball, Na pulled out from his bag the same style shirt he wore during that infamous struggle and hung it on a tree in the brush.
Na missed the green, but got up-and-down for a par. Combined with a par in the second round of the tournament a year ago, Na now averages eight shots on the hole.
Earlier in the week, Na returned to the brush with chainsaw in hand to prune some of the branches which blocked his escape a year ago.
