The HP Byron Nelson Championship likely will have a new home in 2019.
The Nelson’s agreement with TPC Four Seasons runs through 2018. Once that expires, tournament officials are hoping to move the event to Trinity Forest Golf Course, a new Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw-designed track that will be built in Dallas. Barring any delays, the course should be ready for tournament play by May 2019.
“I want this golf course built quickly, and I want to start playing top-notch golf there,” said Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings, according to the Dallas Morning News.
TPC Four Seasons (formerly known as TPC Las Colinas) has hosted the Nelson since 1983, and was redesigned by D.A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard in 2008 after players complained about the layout.
