BETHESDA, Md. – Split-tee starts are the nature of pro golf. But that truth didn't make Friday's opener any easier for Charley Hoffman.
Hoffman, who is paired with Tiger Woods the first two days at Congressional, dropped his tee shot at the par-3 10th hole on Thursday into a pond.
On Friday Hoffman switched to the morning wave that teed off on the back nine first. Just what anyone wants, a 215-yard carry to a shallow green straight away on a cool morning.
Hoffman and Woods both hit the green and two-putted for par. Things can only get better from here.
