PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Anna Nordqvist is motivated seeing her photograph prominently displayed around the Rochester, N.Y., area.
“I’m really excited,” Nordqvist said. “I’ve never defended a title before. It’s a new experience for me.”
A rookie a year ago, Nordqvist shocked the women’s game winning the LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock. She showed it was no fluke when she won the LPGA Tour Championship with impressive closing skills at season's end.
Nordqvist is showing good form entering the year’s second major. She finished second at the LPGA State Farm Classic two weeks ago and tied for 12th at the Shoprite LPGA Classic last weekend. She tied for 10th in the year’s first major. She brings a solid putting stroke to Locust Hill Country Club. She leads the LPGA in putting average.
“You have to hit it straight here, and you have to shape shots, but it always comes down to putting,” Nordqvist said.
