Two-time European Solheim Cup captain Alison Nicholas received the PGAs of Europe’s Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the game.
Nicholas was an 18-time winner, six-time Solheim Cup player, two-time captain, major champion (1997 U.S. Women’s Open) and PGA professional. The 51-year-old received the award at the PGAs of Europe Annual Congress Gala Awards Dinner at Hotel Vila Gale Lagos on Portugal’s Algarve. Recent winners included Seve Ballesteros (2011) and Tony Jacklin (2012).
“I’m overwhelmed to be honest, I certainly didn’t expect it, but I’m honored and humbled to receive it,” she said. “It blows me away to think my name is amongst those previous recipients.”
