Lorena Ochoa looms literally larger than life at her farewell event as a full-time player at this week’s Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Mexico.
A giant banner with Ochoa photographed waving to onlookers was unfurled at the entrance to the club before today’s practice rounds for the LPGA event. There’s a thank you to Ochoa written on the banner. Though the club wasn’t opened to the public yet, a large contingent of club members followed Ochoa around as she practiced. Large crowds are expected when play begins. The tournament announced that 40,000 daily badges were printed and they’ve sold out. It’s rare LPGA events sell out.
Ochoa will be paired with Natalie Gulbis and Ai Miyazato in the first two rounds. The trio is scheduled to go off the 10th tee at 10:20 a.m. (ET) on Thursday and off the first tee at 1:54 p.m. (ET) Friday.
