DORAL, Fla. – Louis Oosthuizen looked like he had just finished a boxing match when he walked off the TPC Blue Monster Saturday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
Lifting his sunglasses, he revealed a right eye that was partially swollen.
“It was completely closed this morning,” Oosthuizen said. “I couldn't really see. I went to the range just to see if I could make proper contact.”
Oosthuizen made better than proper contact, shooting a 5-under-par 67, moving him into contention when he signed his scorecard.
Last weekend, Oosthuizen withdrew before the final round of the Honda Classic last weekend with an ear, eye and throat infection. He said antibiotics took care of all his problems except his eyes. He awakened with blurry vision Saturday, and his right eye swollen completely shut. He's also battling blurry vision and swelling in the left eye.
