NBC Sports will be looking for a new on-course reporter in 2013, after USA Today reported on Monday that Dottie Pepper will not be a part of the network’s golf team next season.

Pepper, who has worked in the booth since 2004, was named an independent director of the PGA of America Board of Directors on Saturday, according to the report.

“NBC wanted me to work more, and I can’t do the things I want to do for golf if I’m in a suitcase for half the year doing announcing,” she said, according to USA Today. “I really want to get more people playing golf and more women playing golf. We are totally missing the boat. I hopefully can help. It’s the perfect time to step back and give a little more back to the game than taking from it.”

The 47-year-old Pepper, who was a 17-time winner on the LPGA, will serve as an assistant captain for the 2013 U.S. Solheim Cup team. Her NBC duties have continued to expand, and she will fill out this year’s 23-event schedule with the World Challenge, Franklin Templeton Shootout and Father/Son Challenge, according to the report.

Pepper will serve a three-year term with the PGA.
