Peterson aces No. 13 for first-career hole-in-one

SAN FRANCISCO – Playing in the penultimate pairing in the third round of the 112th U.S. Open, John Peterson aced the par-3 13th hole from 180 yards for his first career hole-in-one.

Not first as a pro. Not first in competition. First ever.

It moved him back to 3 over for the tournament, well within contention for the title.

In a somewhat ironic twist, Peterson's mother, Jan, had a hole-in-one on her honeymoon with husband David. It was the first time she had ever played golf and carded the ace with her initial swing on the opening hole.
