Phil brings beef to Champions Dinner

The guy who ended 2010 as a vegetarian said he will celebrate his third Masters victory in meaty style.

Asked on Tuesday his plans for the annual Champions Dinner in April at Augusta National Phil Mickelson said his original plan was to honor Seve Ballesteros, the two-time Masters champion who is recovering from a brain tumor.

“I’ve been in contact with Seve, sent him an e-mail saying if he can come I’d love to have the dinner be something he’d like, whether it be a Spanish dish or whatever, but unfortunately I don’t think he’s going to be able to make it,” Mickelson said.

Instead the three-time Masters champion said he will likely go with something that all the former champions can enjoy.

“Many of the past champions love beef. So I plan to have a trio of different (beef),” he said. “I will kind of be honoring the guys with a bunch of different meats and a bunch of green vegetables.”
