Piercy climbs world rankings; Donald still No. 1

RSS

At the onset of the week, Scott Piercy was 100th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Following his second PGA Tour win at the RBC Canadian Open, Piercy improved nearly halfway to No. 1.

He jumped 42 spots to No. 58 in the world following his one-shot win over Robert Garrigus and William McGirt. McGirt gained 103 spots to 200th, while Garrigus gained 15 positions to 55th.

They all still trail Luke Donald, who remains No. 1 by 1.47 points over Tiger Woods. Rory McIlroy is third, while Lee Westwood, Webb Simpson, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Matt Kuchar and Justin Rose round out the top 10.  The top 25 in the world did not change this week.

Bo Van Pelt, however, did jump to 26th from 29th with his T-7 finish in Canada.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, who won the Austrian Open for his second European Tour win of the year, also cracked the top 100. He went from 113th to a career-best 78th.

Ben Kohles won the Web.com Tour's Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational in his professional debut. He entered the world rankings in 475th place.
