When pigskin and playoffs dont mix

ATLANTA – The playoffs, golf’s answer to the start of football season, is tougher on some players than others.

David Toms, an LSU grad and avid fan, will be about halfway through his third round Saturday when his beloved Tigers tee off against Mississippi State. As Toms sees it he has one chance.

“All I can do is hope for a rain delay . . . or a rain out,” he smiled.

He also dismissed the idea of having someone with a radio update him during his round with scores from Starkville, Miss. “Can’t do it. I get too fired up over it. That’s bad for golf.”
