Players react to Garcia's comments at Colonial

FORT WORTH, Texas – Sergio Garcia’s comments regarding Tiger Woods during Tuesday’s European Tour awards dinner in London was a hot topic at Colonial as players readied for this week’s PGA Tour stop.

Most players were surprised by Garcia’s comments, if not the Spaniard’s feud with Woods that was ignited during the third round of The Players Championship.

“It's unfortunate,” said defending champion Zach Johnson. “I'm assuming he has issued an apology. I'm sure that's heartfelt. I guess my first reaction is we are all human. We make mistakes. Granted, I've made some, and I am going to make some more. Ask for forgiveness and try to move on.”

During the awards dinner, Garcia was asked in jest if he planned to invite Woods to his house during the U.S. Open.

“We will have him round every night. We will serve fried chicken,” he said.

“I like fried chicken so I will be over for dinner,” Rickie Fowler smiled. “I mean it's all pretty interesting . . . Sergio may have just got caught with his tongue, got a little tongue tied there. He may have taken it a little far. I know he feels bad about it. I feel like it will all be worked out.”
