Poulter: Expect 'at least one major a year' from McIlroy

While preparing for this week's season finale on the European Tour, Ryder Cup hero Ian Poulter shared an expectation that world No. 1 Rory McIlroy will continue to stockpile major trophies in the coming years.

'I certainly think Rory would expect to win at least one major a year the way he's playing,' Poulter told reporters while in Dubai for the DP World Tour Championship.

McIlroy has won two of the last seven majors contested, including this year's PGA Championship, and after this week's event will have captured the money titles on both the European and PGA tours for 2012.

'The guy is seriously good,' Poulter continued. 'You would expect him to be on the leaderboard come Sunday at most of the majors next year.'

The Englishman also reflected upon his own galvanizing performance at Medinah earlier this year.

'I was a marked man at the Ryder Cup,' explained Poulter, who went 4-0 in his matches to help lead Team Europe to victory. 'They wanted to shut me up, that was plain and simple, and they couldn't do it.'

After three top-10 finishes in the majors in 2012, Poulter now plans to translate his match-play success into a major triumph.

'I guess I frustrate certain people in that format,' he indicated. 'Hopefully I'm going to be in that same situation if I'm coming down the stretch in a major.'
