Poulter promises hell beat Kuchar

NEWPORT, Wales – Ian Poulter couldn’t contain his confidence that Europe would win the Ryder Cup Monday with the matches just underway.

Interviewed by Sky Sports moments after Europe’s Lee Westwood and American Steve Stricker led off the matches, Poulter promised he would win a match to help the cause.

“I’ll deliver a point,” Poulter said.

Poulter was scheduled to go off fifth against Matt Kuchar. Poulter entered Monday’s play with an 8-2 Ryder Cup record and 2-1 mark this week. He came in 2-0 in singles having defeated Chris Riley in ’04 at Oakland Hills and Steve Stricker in ’08 at Valhalla. Kuchar is a Ryder Cup rookie.
