ARDMORE, Pa. – Might want to hold off on building an ark for the U.S. Open.
After a delay of just over four hours, Monday’s practice round at Merion Golf Club will continue at 11 a.m. ET. The course was barraged by heavy rains throughout the early part of the morning, forcing USGA officials to suspend play before most competitors had even reached the course.
The most worrisome hole on the course is the par-4 11th. Earlier in the morning, its greenside bunker was filled with water, but within hours grounds officials were pumping it out.
More rain is expected to reach the course later in the day.
