LEMONT, Ill. – Maybe it has been his time putting out fires behind the scenes at the PGA Tour’s Ponte Vedra Beach home, although it’s more likely his time inside Washington, D.C.’s beltway should get full credit. Either way, Tim Finchem is, above all else, a pragmatist.
Even two turns into the third edition of the Tour’s playoffs, which have been widely applauded, Finchem said he was open to the idea of tinkering with the current format, specifically moving next week’s “bye” week to after the Deutsche Bank Championship to create a bit more of a break.
“It's one of those factors that we will obviously look at each year (to) try to make it a little better than the last,” Finchem said.
Say what you will about the commissioner in chief, the man’s not dogmatic.
