PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Nick Price hopes to keep the gray-haired trend going this week on PGA Tour leaderboards.
Price, 54, is playing the Honda Classic, his first PGA Tour event in three years.
With 51-year-old Fred Couples contending to win the Northern Trust Open two weeks ago and 53-year-old John Cook in contention at last weekend’s Mayakoba Golf Classic, Price takes his turn.
“It gives us a little bit of inspiration, but I’m just out here to have some fun,” Price said.
Price, a three-time major championship winner, is using a one-time exemption for top-50 career money winners to gain access to PGA Tour events this year. Price intends to use the exemption to fill gaps in his Champions Tour schedule.
“I had the opportunity to win four or five times last year and only won twice,” Price said. “I think it was a lack of continuity, having these two-week breaks . . . You lose that edge.”
