Quiet like a churchfor now

SAN DIEGO - Tony Perez, Tour winner Pat Perez's father and a Torrey Pines institution almost as iconic as the seaside views and working man's green fees, split the silence early Thursday to introduce Phil Mickelson on the first tee of the South Course.

As Lefty waited to tee off Perez smiled, 'It's quiet like a church.'

For Mickelson, Torrey is a church but if the big left-hander keeps putting like he did at the end of last year, don't count on it staying quiet.
