RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – With a pair of early bogeys Friday, defending champ Stacy Lewis flirted with the cut line in the middle of her round at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
“I didn’t want to go out after two days,” Lewis said.
Rallying with three birdies, Lewis shot a 1-under-par 71, getting herself to 1-over 145 and tied for 45th with the afternoon pairings going out. The cut will be to the low 70 and ties.
Lewis said a switch to a new putter was a big help. She put away a mallet-style putter and went to “a more Ping Anser” style with more loft, both were TaylorMade designs.
“Seeing putts go in breeds confidence,” Lewis said.
