Rory McIlroy’s bid to overtake Luke Donald atop the World Golf Ranking is not the only ranking intrigue today at the Honda Classic.
Currently tied for 18th at the weather-delayed south Florida stop, Spencer Levin is currently ranked 70th in the World Ranking. To crack the top 50 in Monday’s ranking, and earn a spot in next week’s WGC-Cadillac Championship, Levin will need to win the Honda Classic.
Levin’s better chance to earn a trip to Doral will come via Monday’s FedEx Cup points list. He’s currently 13th on the points list, about 100 points behind No. 10 Ben Crane.
The top 10 in FedEx Cup points after the Honda Classic will be exempt into Doral, which means Levin will likely have to finish inside the top 6.
Rookie Harris English, tied for second at PGA National, is 57th in FedEx Cup points and would need to win or finish in second place to earn his first trip to Doral.
