LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – At 119th on the PGA Tour money list Chris Stroud should be on vacation this week at the season finale. He’s more than $60,000 clear of the 125th spot and, at least mathematically, safe to retain his card, but he’s taking no chances.
“At Turning Stone this year I missed the cut and dropped seven spots on the money list,” said Stroud, who begins Sunday’s final round four strokes out of the Disney lead. “I’m not letting it happen this week.”
According to projections, it will take somewhere around $757,000 or better to remain inside the top 125. That is the third-highest total to keep a card. So much for the recession.
