Red-hot Snedeker in contention

RSS

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Brandt Snedeker is on the leaderboard again entering the weekend at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. It shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Dating back to last August, he has made the cut in seven straight tournaments, with five finishes of sixth or better. That includes a win at last year’s Tour Championship – and a FedEx Cup win with it – and runner-up results at last year’s Barclays and last week’s Farmers Insurance Open.

So far this week, he’s followed an opening-round 64 with a 66 on Friday, leaving him in a share of third place, just five strokes behind leader Phil Mickelson.

“Birdieing the last hole was nice because it leaves a good taste in my mouth going into the weekend,” Snedeker said. “Phil is playing great golf right now, and if you want to catch him, you have to shoot something low.”

That shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Snedeker. In 29 rounds dating back through his torrid streak since last August, he’s posted a number in the 60s on 20 occasions.
