The reluctant host

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – Although he’s technically not the host of this week’s AT&T National, the event benefits and is run by the Tiger Woods Foundation and Woods has been on property this week participating in various events. But then Woods has never been a traditional host.

Asked on Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” on Wednesday about his involvement in recruiting the AT&T National’s field Woods made it clear he’s not bending any arms or asking for favors.

“I don’t ask (other players) to play,” he said. “As a player you’re bombarded with requests to play tournaments so I don’t want to be a part of that.”

Woods may want to become more involved. This week’s field at Aronimink Golf Club features just four players from the top 20 in World Golf Ranking and none from the top 10.
