Report: Fox offers analyst position to Norman

RSS

It seems that questions surrounding who will become the face of golf broadcasting for Fox when they air the 2015 U.S. Open will soon be answered.

According to Tim Rosaforte in a Golf Digest report, the media company has offered its lead golf analyst position to Greg Norman, meaning the two-time British Open champion could be in the booth for Fox when the season's second major heads to Chambers Bay in less than two years.

'David Hill has reached out to me, we have spoken and yes, they have offered me the job,' Norman reportedly confirmed via e-mail to Rosaforte, noting his conversations with Hill, a fellow Australian who formerly was the head of Fox Sports Media Group. 'I am flattered to have been asked and I look forward to having discussions with my good friend in the future.'

While the report notes that negotiations are ongoing, Norman would likely provide no shortage of opinions in the broadcast booth. In recent months, the Aussie has grabbed headlines with comments about world No. 1 Tiger Woods as well as with calls for revamping golf's anti-doping measures.

Earlier this week, Fox entered into a 12-year broadcasting agreement with the USGA to televise its various national championships that will begin in 2015 and run through 2026.
