Peyton Manning and Tom Brady might never be teammates on the gridiron, but the future Hall of Famers reportedly teamed up to defeat a pair of businessmen in a golf match “near Pebble Beach” before NFL training camp began.
Manning and Brady were partners in a best-ball match against two suits, named Ed and Sam. One down on the 17th hole, Brady birdied the 17th and Manning the 18th to stage an improbable rally and avoid a high-profile humiliation.
“Both of us felt like it was one of our biggest victories,” Manning told Peter King. “We could not lose to these guys, because we knew it would go viral, within minutes, on SI.com.”
Both Manning and Brady are pretty good sticks. It was reported earlier this year that the Denver QB shot 77 at Augusta National and made a hole-in-one at Castle Pines, while the Patriots signal-caller, whose swing has been compared to Ernie Els’ (well, according to Donald Trump), is a fixture on the offseason celeb circuit.
