Rollins on a roll

RSS

CHASKA, Minn. – Hard to pick a guy fresh from a victory heading into the week of major, but both of the game’s most recent champions are worth watching this week.

Tiger Woods – looking to become the first player to win a major following back-to-back Tour victories since Byron Nelson won the 1948 PGA following eight consecutive events – is always an easy pick – at a major or otherwise.

The other guy is John Rollins, who won last week’s Legends Reno-Tahoe Open. We caught up with Rollins’ swing coach Randy Smith at Hazeltine National who made two interesting points. Rollins is a momentum player who is fresh off two solid weeks (Reno and a T-8 at Buick Open) and he has a game that is perfectly fit for Hazeltine National.

“If you pick a spot for John Rollins to win a major, this would be this place,” Smith said. “He hits it long and very straight and after the last two weeks he’s putting very well. That makes everything easier.”
