Rose confirms switch to Steinberg's Excel Sports

CROMWELL, Conn. – Newly crowned U.S. Open champion Justin Rose confirmed that he is leaving his current management firm, 4 Sports & Entertainment, to join Mark Steinberg’s Excel Sports Management.

Following an eventful 67 on Day 1 at the Travelers Championship that left him tied for 18th, Rose ended days of speculation and said he was headed to Excel, which also represents Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland.

“The timing is kind of ironic, I suppose, with everything that's happened,” Rose said. “But it's a decision I made quite some time ago and things take some time to figure themselves out.”

Steinberg, who also announced he signed college golf’s top player Chris Williams this week, declined to comment on the move.

“Having risen from 125 in the World Rankings when he joined 4 Sports, to current world No. 3 and U.S. Open champion, Rose has chosen to utilize the U.S. resource base of Excel Sports Management for his future representation,” said 4 Sports’ Marcus Day in a statement.
