Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England, will host the 2019 Walker Cup, the R&A announced Tuesday.
The 47th biennial match between amateurs from the U.S. and Great Britain and Ireland will be held in September 2019 as the club celebrates its 150th anniversary of its foundation. (The Walker Cup was last held there in 1983.)
Hoylake will host the Open Championship next July for the first time since 2006.
This year’s Walker Cup will be held at National Golf Links of America on Sept. 7-8. In 2015, it will be played at Royal Lytham and in 2017 the matches will be held at Los Angeles Country Club.
The U.S. leads the overall series, 34-8-1, but GB&I defeated the Americans in the most recent match, 14-12 at Royal Aberdeen.
