NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – Co-leader Joe Ogilvie, one of the PGA Tour’s more fast-paced players, blazed around Aronimink Golf Club in four hours and eight minutes on Thursday.

Some of the credit for Ogilvie’s swift start can be attributed to Aronimink, a classic layout with few long walks between green and tee, a limited field that allows for threesomes and an 11-minute interval between tee times.

Still, Ogilvie can’t understand why it can’t always be this way.

“We shot (215) shots between the three of us,” Ogilvie said. “You ought to be able to play in under four hours. I don't think it's that much of a leap of faith to play in under four hours when you only hit 212, 214 shots. You'd be kicked out of Aronimink if you played in four hours and 15 minutes . . . in foursomes.”
