There’s jet lag and there’s Ryder Cup lag, and the combination hasn’t been good at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
Europe’s Paul Lawrie, who won a key Sunday singles match to help the Euros in their stunning comeback victory at the Ryder Cup last weekend, missed the 54-hole cut in Scotland.
Three other Ryder Cuppers made the cut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, but they had to rally on Saturday to do so.
Europe’s Peter Hanson birdied the 18th at the Old Course at St. Andrews to make the cut on the number.
“Sometimes, it’s a little difficult to motivate yourself,” Martin Kaymer said of the Ryder Cup aftermath.
Kaymer, who made the clutch putt in Medinah to assure the Euros would at least retain the cup, birdied two of the last four holes on the Old Course Saturday to get himself one shot inside the cutline. He is tied for 43rd. American Ryder Cupper Dustin Johnson had to shoot a 67 on the Old Course to get inside the cutline. He’s also tied for 43rd.
