Ryder Cup watch Americans on the move

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Although both Bubba Watson and Ryan Moore  would be considered long shots to land a captain’s pick at 18th and 20th, respectively, on the Ryder Cup points list, the duo gave Corey Pavin something to think about on Thursday.

Watson is currently tied for second place at the fog-delayed PGA Championship while Moore is a stroke back in seventh place. The upside for Watson is that he’s won this year, a central theme to former captain Paul Azinger’s theory on picks, and makes a lot of birdies (first on Tour in birdie average) – always helpful in match play events.

Moore, however, has not won this year but has an impressive match play resume. In 2004 he became the first golfer to win the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Amateur Public Links and Western Amateur in the same year.
