SYDNEY – Some players seek a competitive advantage by scouting out a major venue weeks or even months before the championship. Last week Adam Scott showed how important the Presidents Cup is to him when he slipped down to Royal Melbourne for a peek.
On his way to China for last week’s WGC-HSBC Champions, Scott spent Oct. 30-31 at the venerable sand-belt layout.
“I was very surprised by how the golf course played,” Scott said. “It was very cold and rainy so hopefully we’ll have better weather for the matches.”
Scott said it had been six years since he played Royal Melbourne and the club has installed new grasses on the greens since then. “I just felt it would be good to get a sneak peak,” he said.
