OAKMONT, Pa. – Paula Creamer will be looking to show her closer skills in today’s final round of the U.S. Women’s Open as she seeks to win her first major championship.
With a birdie to finish her suspended third round Sunday morning, Creamer takes a three-shot lead into the final round later today.
All eight of Creamer’s LPGA titles have come when she’s led going into the final round.
Creamer’s won four of the last five times she’s held the lead going into the final round of a tournament, eight of 14 times overall, but she’s never led going into the final round of a major.
Two years ago, Creamer was a shot behind Stacy Lewis going into the final round of the U.S. Women’s Open at Interlachen but faded with a 78. Creamer's final round scoring average in the U.S. Women’s Open is 75.0.
