PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Sergio Garcia’s trying to make sure he’s happier off the golf course, and it’s helping him on it.
After posting the round of the day Sunday at The Players Championship with a 7-under-par 65, Garcia said the soccer game organized for players and caddies early this week is an example of how he’s focused on enjoying life outside the game more.
“When I come to a tournament, it makes me enjoy it even more,” Garcia said. “Those kind of things, I need them. I can’t really live without them and be happy. You’re taking a risk, but it’s something I’m willing to do.'
Garcia took that long break last year, admitting he was feeling burned out on the game.
Garcia’s 65 was his best round in 12 years at The Players.
