BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lorena Ochoa shed her sweater at her fifth hole (No. 14) in the first round of the U.S. Women's Open. She also shed her red number there.
Both Ochoa and Creamer made bogey after missing the 14th green in their pairing together. Ochoa moved back to even par, Creamer to 1 over with fans getting a good glimpse at how important the short game will be this week. Saucon Valley's Old Course is so long everyone's going to be missing greens. These greens are so diabolically contoured that even short chip shots are riddled with peril. Ochoa was about 10 feet over and left at the 14th green and watched her delicate chip race 40 feet past. The short game may be the great equalizer this week.
