Singh WDs from Quail Hollow in wake of ruling

Vijay Singh has withdrawn from the Wells Fargo Championship, less than 24 hours after his deer-antler spray case was dropped by the PGA Tour.

Singh, 50, was replaced in the field by Andrew Svoboda. Singh told the Tour that he was having back issues.

Despite Singh’s admission that he used deer-antler spray, the World Anti-Doping Agency no longer considers the substance to be prohibited. The PGA Tour thus found that he was not in violation of the circuit’s anti-doping policy.

In his previous eight starts this season, Singh has posted just one top-25 finish, a T-20 at the Sony Open. He also withdrew, citing a bad back, prior to the Waste Management Phoenix Open, when news of his deer-antler spray use first surfaced.

Singh last played at the RBC Heritage, where he missed the cut, and is scheduled to be in the field next week at The Players Championship.
