Smith making a name for herself in the US

RSS

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Count Sarah Jane Smith among students touting the skills of swing coach Sean Foley.

Smith may not be very well known yet on the LPGA. She's playing her first weekend in a major after making her first cut in four major championship tries, but the 25-year-old Australian made a large impression in Saturday’s third round.

With four consecutive birdies in the middle of her round, Smith shot up the leaderboard. With a 3-under-par 69, she was tied for seventh when she signed her scorecard.

Foley, who teaches Hunter Mahan and Sean O’Hair on the PGA Tour, began working with Smith a year at his Orange County National headquarters in Orlando.

“Sean’s been a big help, not just with my swing, but in my mental approach,” Smith said. “He’s really into that, too.”
