The CIMB Classic received a few high-profile commitments Tuesday from Brandt Snedeker, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama.
That foursome will join Phil Mickelson and defending champion Nick Watney in headlining the $7 million Oct. 24-27 event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that will award FedEx Cup points for the first time.
The CIMB Classic, an event co-sanctioned by the PGA and Asian tours, will feature a 78-player field – 60 from the PGA Tour, 10 from the Asian Tour and eight sponsor exemptions. Two spots have been reserved for Malaysian pros, with Rashid Ismail already securing one of the available berths.
Last year, at The Mines Resort & Golf Club, Watney closed with a final-round 61 to win at 22-under 262, one shot clear of Robert Garrigus and Bo Van Pelt, and three ahead of Tiger Woods.
