If Hunter Mahan hadn’t withdrawn before the start of Round 3 to witness the birth of his first child, would Snedeker have been posing with the trophy Sunday night?
“Zoe will be getting a very nice baby gift from me,” he said, smiling.
Mahan was two shots clear at 13-under 131 when he got the call that his wife, Kandi, had gone into labor in Dallas. He arrived at the hospital in plenty of time, and early Sunday morning the couple welcomed a baby girl.
Snedeker has two young children of his own and remembers pulling out of the 2011 Honda Classic when his first child, daughter Lily, was born.
“It was the best decision I ever made,” Snedeker recalled. “I’m sure Hunter would say the same thing.”
