Solheim Cup report card: U.S. team

Team USA

Paula Creamer (1-3-0)

Paula Creamer
Grade D

Skinny: Massive blow, playing poorly in singles loss to 17-year-old Charley Hull. Delivered 1 point, her worst total in five appearances.

Cristie Kerr (1-2-1)

Cristie Kerr
Grade C-

Skinny: Foursomes loss with Creamer in anchor match of opening session felt like two losses. It emboldened Euro confidence.

Jessica Korda (1-2-1)

Jessica Korda
Grade C+

Skinny: As rookie, Korda delivered 1.5 points, teaming with Morgan Pressel to give Americans their only point in the opening session.

Brittany Lang (3-1-0)

Brittany Lang
Grade A

Skinny: Delivered more points than any other American. Came through in a key singles match against Munoz to keep U.S. hopes alive.

Stacy Lewis (1-2-1)

Stacy Lewis
Grade D

Skinny: Highest-ranked player here was out of sorts from the beginning. Much more was expected and needed for her team.

Brittany Lincicome (1-1-1)

Brittany Lincicome
Grade C-

Skinny: Americans needed more from one of its most talented players and a major championship winner. Like most of the other notables on this team, she didn't deliver.

Gerina Piller (0-2-1)

Gerina Piller
Grade C

Skinny: Rookie battled veteran Catriona Matthew to a halve singles, a good fight when Americans needed every half-point.

Morgan Pressel (1-3-0)

Morgan Pressel
Grade D

Skinny: Her worst Solheim Cup performance. Lost last three matches, including a disappointing singles loss to an unheralded cup rookie.

Lizette Salas (0-1-2)

Lizette Salas
Grade B-

Skinny: Even in opening foursomes loss with Lewis, Salas played well in first Solheim, showing she’s game for the big stage.

Angela Stanford (0-4-0)

Angela Stanford
Grade F

Skinny: Something about the Solheim Cup setting doesn’t suit Stanford, a gifted player who couldn’t find form in another team loss.

Lexi Thompson (1-2-0)

Lexi Thompson
Grade C

Skinny: Showed off shot-making skills all week and came through in singles. But, as is the case on a weekly basis with Lexi, she couldn't make the putts.

Michelle Wie (2-2-0)

Michelle Wie
Grade B-

Skinny: Proved Mallon made right choice in picking her by collecting 2 points. Took Hedwall to the 18th hole in singles.

Captain Meg Mallon

Meg Mallon
Grade C

Skinny: Mallon’s players simply did not play well. But you can’t give a losing captain (by 8 points) a good grade.
