There will be some serious sizing up for the Solheim Cup at this week’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
And we’re not talking uniform fittings.
With the Solheim Cup just two weeks away, American and European players will get a chance to size up the state of each other’s games in the first two rounds Friday and Saturday in Rogers, Ark.
Europe’s star player, Suzann Pettersen, will play with American rookie Ryann O’Toole in a noon CT grouping on Friday. Yani Tseng is also in the threesome. The quality of that competition offers an interesting test for O’Toole as she bids to bounce back after missing the cut the week after being named a surprise Solheim Cup captain’s pick. Is this really a random pairing? Tseng's the No. 1 player in the world, Pettersen No. 2. O'Toole is No. 95.
Right behind O’Toole’s grouping, Germany’s Sandra Gal will be playing with a couple American Solheim Cup members, Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie.
Two groups behind that grouping, Spain’s Azahara Munoz will be playing with American Christina Kim in more Solheim Cup matchmaking.
